App Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the Rishis MOT Centre mobile app ("the app") collects, how it is used and how you can delete it. The app is published by Rishi’s MOT Centre ("we", "us"), who is the data controller. It is built and run for us by BayPal, our garage software provider, which processes data only on our instructions. This policy applies to the app on Android and iOS.

What the app collects
- Mobile phone number: to create your account and sign you in with a one-time code sent by SMS. No password is used.
- Your name, email address and (if you add it) postal address: to manage your bookings and contact you about them.
- Your vehicles: registration number, make and model. We look up MOT and road tax status and MOT history from the DVSA and DVLA using the registration.
- Bookings: the services you book, dates and times, and any notes you add.
- Marketing preference: whether you want to receive offers.
The app does not access your location, contacts, photos, microphone or files, does not show adverts, and does not track you across other apps or websites. We never sell your personal data.
Why we use it
- To provide your account and the services you book (contract).
- To send booking confirmations and reminders about your MOT, service and road tax (legitimate interests). You can ask us to stop them at any time.
- To send offers, only if you have agreed (consent). You can change this in the app at any time.
- To keep the app secure and working (legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
- BayPal, which hosts the app's service and stores your data for us as our processor.
- Our SMS provider, to send your sign-in code and reminders.
- The DVSA and DVLA, when we look up your vehicle's MOT and tax status by its registration.
- The police, courts or other authorities, only where the law requires it.
Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards (UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement) are in place.
How your data is protected
All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Sign-in sessions use a secure token that is stored only in hashed form, sign-in codes expire after a few minutes, and access to your data is limited to the garage and the staff who need it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while you use the app. If you delete your account, we delete your app account and personal data, except bookings, invoices and payment records that we must keep for tax and legal reasons, which are kept for up to 6 years and then deleted.
Deleting your account
- In the app: open your profile and choose Delete account.
- On the web: use our account deletion page. You don't need the app installed.
- Or email info@rishismotcentre.co.uk.
We complete deletion requests within 30 days and tell you what, if anything, we had to keep.
Children
The app is for vehicle owners and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, have it transferred, and withdraw consent at any time. To do so, email info@rishismotcentre.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Data is encrypted in transit and you can request that it is deleted. Service providers who process data on our behalf are not counted as "sharing" under Google Play's definitions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
